Meet the Artist
Miri Smerling
I am an American-Israeli artist, I grew up outside Philadelphia and have been based in Tel Aviv since 2011. My creative journey began as a young girl - always diving deep into music, art, and culture. Whether singing, writing, painting or any other medium, I’ve found that art and creative environments have greatly enriched my life and helped me to evolve as a person.
While professionally I have worked for many years in the hi-tech industry, the Covid period provided me with new opportunities to learn and grow as an artist. In 2021 I studied with Arina Albo, an Israeli artist and teacher who exposed me to the theories and methods of graphite sketching and watercolor.
Over these years, I have learned extensively and immersed myself in art, taking my inspiration primarily from 19th century and early 20th century artists like Claude Monet, Marc Chagall, Renoir, and Van Gogh as well as Contemporary Israeli and global artists.
Since October 7th, art has truly been a lifeline for me during this tumultuous time. From January to March 2024, I participated in a Tel Aviv cohort of Julia Cameron’s course “The Artist’s Way”. The course helped me to expand my artistic horizons and pushed me to further explore this career path.
I hope to bring more color to people’s lives, spotlight beautiful places and moments, and build a community for creativity in Israel and globally.
